Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP)

The ASFP is the UK’s leading trade association for the passive fire protection sector. It was formed in 1975 in recognition of a need to bring together passive fire protection manufacturers, contractors and testing/certification bodies to encourage, develop and give guidance on essential standards in passive fire protection and to support the activities of the fire industry in relation to all forms of ‘built in’ fire protection.

The ASFP provide detailed guidance on the design and specification of specialist fire protection ion their technical guides, codes of practice, and Colour Books. Find ot more here: ASFP Publications

The Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) Consultation on the Design Development Process

FIS has been working on breaking down the design development process and looking at irreconcilable details. They are looking for member feedback on an outline paper that we have prepared “A Defined Design Development Process”. This paper looks at the design development process and allocation of responsibility to trade contractors within the context of Contractors Design Portion (CDP).

To review the Consultation Paper, please go here: FIS A Defined Design Development

The Passive Fire Knowledge Group (PFKG)

The PFKG is a unique not-for-profit collaboration comprising contractors, consultants and relevant trade associations. Their mission is to improve the delivery of well designed, specified and installed passive fire protection by focusing on 3 key areas: Process, Testing and Education.

The group aims to investigate, understand, inform and promote knowledge and research in all areas of passive fire protection by producing regular Knowledge Shares which provide an easy-to-understand overview of the specific technical challenges.
